Shipping Service
When selecting a carrier, consider the full range of services offered. While you may primarily use ground transportation, it's a good idea to offer next day or second day air service when the customer needs to receive the item right away. Also consider three-day delivery for time-sensitive packages on a cost-sensitive budget. Some carriers even offer guaranteed day-definite ground delivery to help you manage customer expectations. Finally, look for some of the following valuable optional services (policies differ from carrier to carrier):

  • Multiple delivery attempts: Some carriers will make multiple attempts without imposing additional charges.
  • Email notification: Automatically send an email to inform your customer that their package is on its way.
  • Saturday delivery: Choose a carrier with extended pickup and delivery schedules.
  • Hold for pickup: Hold your shipment at the carrier's facility (a location you request) for customer pickup.
  • Return services: Retrieve packages, when the need arises.
  • Delivery Confirmation: Know when your package arrived and who signed for it.
